Three pitchers combined on a four-hit shutout Saturday as Old Dominion beat Rice 2-0, completing a three-game sweep of their Conference USA series at Bud Metheny Complex.
Left-hander John Wilson (4-0), a true freshman, went 6.2 innings to get the win and remain perfect. He allowed three hits, struck out four and walked three. Morgan Maguire allowed one hit in one inning before Craig Lopez finished with 1.1 perfect innings for his third save.
Kyle Battle hit a, RBI single in the fourth inning and Vinnie Pasquantino scored on an eighth-inning throwing error for ODU (15-4, 3-0).
