SAN DIEGO, Calif. - Old Dominion University senior skipper Esteban Forrer earned first-team Intercollegiate Sailing Association All-America honors while junior crew Gabriel Smith also received first-team honors, the ICSA announced Thursday night.
Is is the second-straight season Forrer and Smith earned first-team honors, and the third time Forrer has been named an All-American.
Forrer and Smith sailed together the last two years on ODU's top team, leading the Monarchs to a win at this year's national semifinals and finishing in fifth at the national finals.
To select an All-American skipper, the committee evaluates a competitor based on their competitive record in inter-conference competition as well as conference and national championships.
