Florida International scores 3 in fifth to rally past Old Dominion

Florida International scored three runs in the fifth inning Friday night to rally past Old Dominion for a 5-4 victory in the opener of a Conference USA baseball series at Infinity Park.

Jose Garcia laced a two-out double down the left-field line to tie the game, and an error by center fielder Matt Schwartz allowed the Panthers to take the lead.

Trailing 2-1, the Monarchs scored twice in the third and once in the fourth for a 4-2 lead.

Culver Lamb (Tallwood) and Kyle Battle each had three hits and Schwartz had two for the Monarchs (8-12, 1-3).
