First-place Monarchs record their first soccer win over Kentucky

Niko Klosterhalfen and Brandon Perdue scored Saturday night in Old Dominion’s 2-0 victory over Kentucky in a Conference USA men's match at the ODU Soccer Complex.

More than 1,000 fans watched Monarchs’ first victory over the Wildcats, which put ODU in first place.

Perdue, a freshman from Chesapeake, assisted on Klosterhalfen’s tally, which came just 22 seconds in. Perdue's goal game just after halftime, in the 50th minute. He leads the Monarchs with six goals this season.

Mertcan Akar had five saves for his fourth shutout of the season.

ODU (6-1-2, 3-0) plays a C-USA match at Charlotte at 7 p.
