Old Dominion had struggled to stop its first three opponents, so coach Karen Barefoot turned up the heat.
She challenged her team to improve defensively after a 92-64 loss at Duke last week. What followed were defense-driven practices and film sessions.
“We always talk about owning our identity and rebounding, but we haven’t really put the pressure on to the highest point of really turning people over,” Barefoot said. “That’s one thing we’ve been working on in practice, getting after it, disrupting the flow of the opponent.”
ODU responded Sunday against N.C. Central , with a stifling 83-52 win at the Constant Center
The Lady Monarchs started the game with a 14-0 run, keeping the Eagles off the board for the first 5:46 of play.
