NORFOLK (WAVY) – Professional football has the preseason. Major League Baseball has Spring Training. The NBA, the NHL, even college basketball has a way for coaches to see their teams face another opponent before the regular season officially starts.
That’s not the case in college football. Coaches can only see their own teams’ offense and defense go helmet-to-helmet before kicking off their respective campaigns. Old Dominion head coach Bobby Wilder is beyond ready to see an opponent on the opposite sideline.
“[This week’s game against Hampton University] is the first look and that anticipation and excitement is one of my favorite things about coaching,” said Wilder at his weekly press conference.
