CHARLESTON, W.Va. | Chase Boster pitched a complete game, scattering five hits and three runs as Marshall beat Old Dominion 5-3 in the opener of the teams’ final Conference USA baseball series of the regular season.
Nick Lustrino’s first home run of the season, a two-run shot, put ODU ahead in the second inning before the Herd (31-18, 20-8) rallied on Ryne Deane’s three-run homer in the fourth.
The Monarchs (31-21, 14-14) tied it in the sixth inning on a Connor Myers sacrifice fly, but RBI singles in the seventh and eighth put Marshall ahead to stay.
