One day after making the national rankings for the first time in a decade, No. 25 Old Dominion fell to Richmond 5-1 Tuesday in a nonconference baseball game at Pitt Field.
Richmond (15-30) scored all its runs in the fifth inning. Jonathan de Marte’s two-run single and Kyle Adams’ two-run double highlighted the inning.
Old Dominion (32-15) loaded the bases with no outs in the top of the seventh, but managed just one run on Jared Young’s sacrifice fly.
Kyle Battle, Turner Bishop (Kellam High) and Kurt Sinnen (Kellam) had two-hit games for ODU. Bishop had a double and scored the Monarchs’ lone run.
