Baseball Falls in Rubber Match to High Point, 7-5

NORFOLK, Va. -- The Old Dominion baseball team dropped its opening series of the 2019 season, falling to High Point, 7-5, in the rubber match on Sunday afternoon at the Bud Metheny Complex.

High Point (2-1) broke a 5-5 tie with two runs in the eighth inning.

Offensively for Old Dominion (1-2), Kyle Battle (3-5, R, RBI), Matt Burch (2-4, R, RBI) and Matt Schwarz (2-4, 2 RBI, SB) combined for seven of ODU's 10 hits.

On the mound, freshman righty Matt Busher (3.1 IP, 2 H, 2 ER, 0 BB, 4 K) was the tough-luck loser in his collegiate debut.
