Bainbridge's shutout helps ODU salvage a split

Adam Bainbridge tossed Old Dominion’s first shutout in four years, helping the Monarchs split a Conference USA baseball doubleheader with Charlotte on Saturday at the Bud Metheny Complex.

Bainbridge (6-1), a senior left-hander, notched a career-high seven strikeouts and scattered four hits as ODU won the nightcap 2-0. Charlotte (16-11, 5-3) won the first game 3-1.

ODU freshman Vinnie Pasquantino extended his hitting streak to 13 games with three hits on the day.

Zach Rutherford (Western Branch) had two hits and drove in ODU’s lone run in the first game. Kyle Battle had two hits and an RBI in the second game.
