The road to vindication in the tennis world – and a big financial windfall – began 12 years ago for three Norfolk natives.

That's when Dave Howell, a local tennis pro, began to ponder how he could match junior players more fairly in local tournaments. There were too many 6-0, 6-0 blowouts, and the kids getting crushed week after week were losing interest, he said.
