Old Dominion erupted for 13 runs in the eighth inning Tuesday night to erase a three-run deficit and defeat Princeton 14-4 in a nonconference baseball at the Bud Metheny Complex.
The Monarchs (16-4) entered the bottom of the eighth trailing 4-1. But they responded by sending 16 men to the plate and banging out nine hits, including Jared Young’s two-run double and run-scoring single; two-run singles by Vinnie Pasquantino, Culver Lamb (Tallwood High) and Will Morgan; and Kyle Battle’s RBI single.
The Monarchs had trailed the entire game until the eighth, having given up four runs to Princeton (2-10) in the top of the first.
