Tramel: Baylor’s demise helps OU & OSU, hurts Big 12

Jarrett Stidham, Baylor's quarterback of the future, left the Bears the other day and isn't coming back. Stidham was struck by what some have called the oppressive sense of doom on the Brazos. He'll transfer and be some other school's QB of the future.

Stidham wasn't going to start this season, so long as senior Seth Russell was healthy.

But Russell suffered a fractured bone in his neck last October. Seems like long odds that he will be healthy this autumn.

The same can be said for Baylor football.

The scandal that has rocked Baylor – president Kenneth Starr, athletic director Ian McCaw and football coach Art Briles all lost their jobs in the wake of Baylor ignoring and/or covering up sexual assault allegations against multiple players — has crippled one of college

football's greatest success stories.
