Tramel: Aaron Rodgers has become the Hail Mary king

ARLINGTON, Texas

A Presbyterian started it all. A Catholic made it famous. But Aaron Rodgers, whose religious bent remains somewhat of a mystery, made it into an art form.

If the Dallas Cowboys take a one-possession lead into the final seconds of their NFC semifinal Sunday against Green Bay, but the Packers have the ball, apprehension will trump excitement in JerryWorld. Cowboys and their fans alike know a Green Bay game never is over when a Rodgers Hail Mary is possible.

“I think we're starting to believe that any time the ball goes up there, there's a chance,” Rodgers said a few days ago, after his 42-yard touchdown pass on the final play of the first half gave the Packers a 14-6 lead on the Giants, en route to a 38-13 victory.
