The perfect inning: Elliott returns after Tommy John surgery

Jensen Elliott waited.

For 366 days, Elliott, a sophomore right-handed pitcher on the Oklahoma State baseball team, didn’t throw in a game.

As the 2018 season began and teammates such as Joe Lienhard, Carson Teel and Jonathan Heasley started on the mound, Elliott could only watch.

He suffered a UCL injury in the first game of a doubleheader against South Dakota State on March 12, 2017. Elliott earned the win to improve to 3-0, yet that game delayed the rest of his baseball career. The next month, he underwent Tommy John surgery.

On May 13, 2018, though the Cowboys dropped a rubber game to Baylor, the eighth inning gave them a kind of victory that was monumental for one player.
