The evolution of Yor Anei: Cowboy freshman embraces high expectations as starting big man

Yor Anei didn’t have to worry about gaining the freshman 15.

Anei, a starting forward from Overland Park, Kansas, arrived at Oklahoma State as a tall, lanky freshman with potential. He was the first men’s basketball player to sign with coach Mike Boynton and the top recruit in Kansas on 247Sports.com’s list.

Anei had experience as a standout high school player, but he couldn’t anticipate the fast-paced, rigorous lifestyle of a college athlete.

“At the beginning of the year, I didn’t really know what being in shape for this was,” Anei said.

After 20 minutes of playing, Anei became exhausted.
