Staying strong: Cowboys focus on recovery, nutrition to help them play more minutes

Whether Isaac Likekele plunges into an ice bath or gulps down tart cherry juice after basketball practice, he is dedicated to his routine.

Likekele, a freshman starting point guard, is one of seven available scholarship players on the Oklahoma State men’s basketball team. With a reduced roster, the Cowboys, including Likekele, are forced to play more minutes, which has altered their regimens outside games. They have adjusted their workouts to prevent excessive fatigue. Their nutrition plans involve supplements to help them recuperate after strenuous workouts, practices and games.

Likekele said he takes ice baths three to four times a week.
