A couple of hours in advance Saturday, Mitchell Solomon was notified of a team meeting in Gallagher-Iba Arena.
A forward for Oklahoma State’s basketball team, Solomon figured coach Brad Underwood wanted to talk about the offseason. The Cowboys lost a one-point game to Michigan in the first round of the NCAA Tournament the day before.
Instead, Underwood wanted to say goodbye.
The meeting lasted 10 minutes and Underwood was there for two or three, Solomon said. He was leaving for Champaign, Illinois, to become the new coach of the Fighting Illini. He told them he was leaving, told them he was sorry, told them he would miss them.
