ESPN’s Jeff Goodman is reporting Doug Gottlieb, a FOX Sports analyst and former Oklahoma State point guard, will interview for the Cowboy basketball team’s open coaching position.
Gottlieb, played at OSU from 1988-2000 under coach Eddie Sutton, who endorsed Gottlieb for the position in March 2016. Gottlieb finished his Cowboy career as the school’s all-time assists leader before moving on to a broadcasting career with ESPN, CBS and now FOX.
OSU’s coaching position was left vacant after former coach Brad Underwood surprisingly resigned Saturday afternoon and signed a six-year contract to coach the Illinois basketball team. Underwood was hired March 21, 2016, to replace Travis Ford, who’s team struggled to an injury-plagued 12-20 finish in 2015-16.
