Anecdotally I came into this year thinking Oklahoma State as a program is getting more undisciplined and more penalized, not less. That’s what I’ve been saying all season, and it’s an easy thing to say when you look at this year’s stats. The problem is that it ain’t true.
Gundy’s teams, even as they’ve become less talented, have actually gotten more disciplined and committed fewer penalties than ever before. In each of the last four years they have committed fewer penalties than in the year before. In each of the last two years they have set new Gundy-era records for fewest penalties.
