Penn State has won seven of the last eight NCAA wrestling titles. The Nittany Lions didn’t win in 2015, but otherwise has won every year starting with 2011.
That’s an affront to OSU, of course, and not only because the Cowboys expect to be in the thick of NCAA wrestling contention. Penn State had drawn precariously close to OSU on the list of all-time NCAA team titles.
But last week in Stillwater, the Cowboys gave themselves a little breathing room with their 11th NCAA men’s golf championship. That gave OSU 52 NCAA team titles, two more than Penn State.
