OSU's Mike Gundy doesn't expect new faces in Liberty Bowl

Oklahoma State coach Mike Gundy offered plenty of insight into his thoughts on tweaking the NCAA's new redshirt rule that allows players to participate in four games and still maintain their redshirt season.

But he said he doesn’t anticipate any of his redshirting players who have not yet played in a game to take part in Monday’s Liberty Bowl. That would limit the list of redshirting players who could participate to guys like defensive back Jason Taylor II, who played in the final two games of the regular season.

“It needs to be for athletes that are in their first or second year,” Gundy said of the redshirt rule, perhaps referencing OSU's loss of graduate transfers Jalen McCleskey (Tulane) and Darrion Daniels (Nebraska), who took advantage of the rule to get an extra season of eligibility -- McCleskey by choice, and Daniels because of injury.
