Mike Gundy knew little about Sean Gleeson when looking for an Oklahoma State offensive coordinator. Didn’t even know Gleeson’s age. So Gundy asked the Princeton assistant coach.
“He goes, ‘Well, I’m too old to be an NFL coach, put it that way,’” Gundy said.
The 34-year-old Gleeson was exaggerating only slightly, considering when that conversation took place last January, Sean McVay, the 33-year-old Los Angeles Ram, was the hottest head coach in America.
Gundy, despite a perennial boyish image, is long past the young stage. He’s 51 and about to start his 15th season as the Cowboy football coach.
