STILLWATER — Oklahoma State tight end Logan Carter was among the nominees for the award considered the top academic award in college football.

Carter was nominated for the William V. Campbell Trophy, which recognizes a college football player for his academic success, football performance and exemplary leadership.

Criteria for the selection process require that the player is a senior or graduate student in his final year of eligibility, has a grade-point average of at least 3.2 on a 4.0 scale, has outstanding football ability as a first-team player, and has demonstrated strong leadership and citizenship.

“Not a testament to what I’ve accomplished but rather a reflection of how my mother raised me and the values instilled in me,” Carter wrote on Twitter.
