OSU football: Former OSU star Neill Armstrong dies at age 90

Neill Armstrong, a star on OSU's great Cotton Bowl and Sugar Bowl teams of the 1940s and later head coach of the Chicago Bears, died Wednesday at age 90.

Armstrong was a two-time All-American for Jim Lookabaugh's Aggies. Armstrong led the nation in receiving yards in both 1943 and 1946, forming a legendary tandem with teammate Bob Fenimore.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Aug. 20 at Fellowship United Methodist Church in Trophy Club, Texas.

Armstrong, from Tishomingo, was also on Henry Iba's 1943-44 basketball team and was president of the university's student government in 1946.
