OSU football: Cowboys No. 23 in initial CFP rankings

STILLWATER — Two weeks ago, coming off a pair of frustrating losses, Oklahoma State didn’t receive a single vote in the Associated Press top 25.

Two bounce-back wins didn’t do much to scratch the surface among AP voters.

But the College Football Playoff committee saw things differently, ranking the Cowboys No. 23 in its initial rankings released Tuesday.

At 6-3, OSU is the only three-loss team in the top 25, coming in just ahead of a pair of one-loss teams, Navy and SMU.

A 26-13 win over Kansas State, which came in at No. 16 in the initial rankings, was the strong point of OSU’s schedule.
