OSU football: Cowboys head to Houston for bowl, an area of importance for recruiting, fan base

STILLWATER — Oklahoma State coach Mike Gundy wishes his team’s next game was being played in the fall, rather than the last week of December, but that’s just his nostalgia talking.

Gundy’s 25th-ranked Cowboys will face former Big 12 Conference counterpart Texas A&M in the Texas Bowl at 5:45 p.m. Dec. 27 at NRG Stadium in Houston.

“I’m very traditional. I like the old Big Eight, but the original Big 12 I thought was pretty cool,” Gundy said. “When (Texas A&M) jumped ship and Missouri left, I thought they were a great fit in this league, and I thought Missouri was a great fit, like Nebraska.
