OSU football: Cornelius, Wudtee continue battle for backup quarterback job

STILLWATER — Taylor Cornelius admits he's competing for a job he hopes is never called into action this season — at least not by catastrophic means.

Cornelius, a junior walk-on, and redshirt freshman Keondre Wudtee are locked in a duel to be the No. 2 man behind Oklahoma State's star quarterback, Mason Rudolph, through one week of preseason camp.

“You always prepare like you're gonna start, but you never want that to happen, obviously,” Cornelius said of a potential Rudolph injury.

The 6-foot-6, 225-pound Cornelius is a program guy. The Bushland, Texas, native is a positive influence among teammates and a hard worker who earns everything he gets.
