Records are meant to be broken, and on Tuesday, Oklahoma State etched into the NCAA history book.
Jacie Hoyt-coached teams are known to shoot 3s with success, and OSU has done that this season. In their 105-55 victory against Prairie View A&M Tuesday, the Cowgirls hit 13 3-pointers and broke a national record.
With 45 seconds remaining, Lena Girardi caught a pass from Jadyn Wooten and drilled a 3-point shot. It marked OSU’s 72nd made 3-pointer on the season, an NCAA record for the most 3’s in a team's first five games since at least 1999-2000.
The Cowgirls have three of the top 3-point shooters in the country in Girardi, Haleigh Timmer and Micah Gray.
