OSU Basketball: Tyree Griffin To Transfer

Tyree Griffin always envisioned himself as a starter. Yet with Jawun Evans returning to health, Griffin was bound for more backup duty.

Except now, Griffin will seek a starter opportunity elsewhere.

The junior point guard will transfer, a source within the program confirmed Sunday. Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports first reported Griffin's intentions.

Griffin averaged 5.2 points, three rebounds and 3.9 assists for the Cowboys in 2015-16, playing well when Evans was lost for the season midway through the Big 12 schedule.

Evans, however, is nearing full recovery from shoulder surgery and will step back into the starter's role, after earning Big 12 Freshman of the Year honors even in his limited action.
