OSU basketball: No longer buried, Cowboys are hot heading into Big 12 Tournament

STILLWATER — Oklahoma State coach Mike Boynton changed his routine Thursday for perhaps the first time in his tenure.

The Cowboys had two workouts scheduled. Instead, Boynton canceled one. He kept the other extremely short, possibly 40 minutes.

“I told them we could only do that if they would understand why,” Boynton said less than 24 hours after the Cowboys’ overwhelmed red-hot Texas.

The why is simple. It was both a necessity 24 hours after a physical game late in the season. But it was also a reward.

The Cowboys are rolling heading into Wednesday’s Big 12 Tournament opener against Iowa State in Kansas City’s Sprint Center.
