STILLWATER — Oklahoma State men’s basketball coach Mike Boynton believes emotions have clouded some from hearing the message behind nationwide protests against racial injustice and police brutality.
He saw that Wednesday from New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees.
In an interview with Yahoo! Finance, Brees said he wouldn’t be OK with protesting racial injustice and police brutality if it meant disrespecting the flag. Brees apologized for his “insensitive” comments on Thursday.
“If we keep saying, or people keep saying it's not about the flag, and you keep telling them what they mean, then you can't help the situation,” Boynton said Thursday in a Zoom meeting with reporters.
