STILLWATER — Oklahoma State senior Lindy Waters III draped the blanket around the shoulders of Mike Boynton after they embraced.
A “Circle of Life” blanket is the highest honor awarded by Native Americans in a traditional giveaway. Waters wanted his biggest OSU influence to have it after the Cowboys beat Yale 64-57 on Sunday.
“Coach Mike being just a mentor to me, putting me in a position to be successful and pushing me, giving me all the confidence every single day, I can’t ask for much else,” Waters said.
Boynton was a first-year assistant coach with the Cowboys when Waters arrived as a freshman.
