STILLWATER — Nearly every day, Jonathan Laurent’s phone lit up with an encouraging message.
Sometimes, Laurent got lucky. He received the message in person.
Oklahoma State men's basketball coach Mike Boynton was not giving up on his graduate transfer. Times were hard on the court for Laurent. He hesitated to shoot. He hesitated to drive to the basket.
Laurent’s confidence was shaken.
“You feel like you're not doing anything or you're not helping your team to win,” Laurent said.
But Boynton was always in Laurent’s ear, pushing confidence. Laurent had to believe his time would come.
