STILLWATER — Nearly three decades ago, Mike Boynton arrived early to Madison Square Garden with his father. They wanted to get as close to the court as possible.
Patrick Ewing was warming up.
Even from the short distance, the New York Knicks’ 7-foot Hall of Famer was a mountain of a man to a young fan.
“He's like the biggest human being I've ever seen in my life when I was 7 or 8 years old,” Boynton said.
From his father’s love of Ewing and Georgetown to Boynton’s own love of John Starks and Michael Jordan, Boynton got his fill of NBA stars of the past growing up in Brooklyn.
