STILLWATER — Eddie Sutton’s long wait is over.
The Sutton family was informed Friday that Eddie will be inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame this year, The Oklahoman has confirmed. The Tulsa World first reported Sutton’s induction.
Sutton, 84, was denied inductions six times, with last year being the toughest after expectations of his induction rose to a new level.
“I thought last year it just seemed right,” Sutton’s son Scott told The Oklahoman last week. “It seemed like it was time and it was going to happen. I think we all got our hopes up and it was a big letdown.
