That, Simpson somewhat jokingly said, was the biggest benefit of the Oklahoma State baseball team getting to host an NCAA regional.
OSU got a host berth as the No. 9 overall seed for the NCAA Tournament, but Simpson, the Cowboys’ star catcher, will have to settle into a hotel room for the weekend.
With the abundance of rain that has hit Stillwater over the last two weeks, Allie P. Reynolds Stadium’s outfield is saturated and in no condition to host a four-team, double-elimination regional tournament.
