The 18-year drought was over. The Cowgirls beat the formerly untouchable Sooners 71-69 for their first victory in Norman since Feb. 7, 1998. The cavernous Lloyd Noble Center, full of so many bad memories for the women clad in orange and black, was quieted.
In 1998, OU coach Sherri Coale was in her second year with the Sooners. Littell was at Seward County Community College in Liberal, Kansas.
“It’s been a long time coming,” Littell said. “(Brittney Martin) said she was 4 years old when we won here the last time, so that gives you an idea.
