Oklahoma State wrestling: Cowboys add Indiana transfer Joey Sanchez

Joey Sanchez reveled Wednesday on social media that he has transferred from Indiana to Oklahoma State.

Sanchez was 14-10 at 157 pounds as a redshirt freshman this past season, including a 7-2 loss to his now teammate Chance McLane in the Lindenwood Open final. He was 135-9 during his high school career at Ohio powerhouse St. Paris Graham, including a 2018 state champion at 152 pounds and NHSCA All-American.

“Joey is a hard worker, has great character, very skilled and has tremendous upside,” Indiana coach Angel Escobedo said when Sanchez signed with the Hoosiers.

Sanchez looks to be a backup option this coming season for OSU coach John Smith with redshirt junior Wyatt Sheets and redshirt sophomore Travis Wittlake returning to their respective starting spots at 157 and 165 pounds.
