Oklahoma State basketball: OSU survives Iowa State horde, now it gets the Jayhawks without their fans

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Lindy Waters heard the boos during a second-half timeout. He didn’t know what had stirred the passions of the Sprint Center’s pro-Iowa State crowd, but Waters was in no mood to worry about it. His Cowboys were down seven points Wednesday night in this first-round game of the Big 12 Tournament.

Soon enough, OSU had a 72-71 victory and Waters figured out the displeasure from the fans. The Big 12 Tournament would proceed, starting Thursday, in a virtually empty gym, in response to the new coronavirus pandemic.

The Cowboys’ reward for overcoming Iowa State and its Kansas City magic?
