Oklahoma State baseball in the pros: Blue Jays acquire Thomas Hatch from Cubs

The Cubs traded former Oklahoma State pitcher Thomas Hatch and cash considerations to the Blue Jays in exchange for right-handed pitcher David Phelps on Tuesday prior to the MLB trade deadline. Shi Davidi of Sportsnet first reported the news.

The 24-year-old Hatch was a third-round pick in 2016 by Chicago. The Jenks High School product from Tulsa was pitching at Double-A Tennessee, where he had 93 strikeouts, 37 walks in 100 innings across 21 starts.

Hatch was 9-3 with a 2.14 ERA and three shutouts in 130 13 innings to help the Cowboys reach the 2016 College World Series.
