No. 3-seeded OSU soccer to host South Dakota State in NCAA Tournament opener

STILLWATER — The tension in the room was growing thick.

There was no doubt that the Oklahoma State women’s soccer team would hear its name called in the NCAA Tournament selection show Monday afternoon.

But the Cowgirls waited through nearly the entire field before seeing their opening-round matchup pop onto the television screen, pitting them against South Dakota State at 7 p.m. Friday at Neal Patterson Stadium.

OSU is the No. 3 seed in its 16-team quadrant of the bracket that also includes No. 1-seed North Carolina, No. 2-seed Southern Cal and fourth-seeded Texas Tech.

“Of course, they had to put us right at the end, the last bracket, so we were all nervous, sitting on the edge of our seats,” senior Julia Lenhardt said.
