The numbers don’t project good odds for players like Oklahoma State’s A.J. Green or OU’s Parnell Motley.
We’re not talking 40-yard dash times or vertical leaps or arm lengths.
We’re talking success rate.
In recent years, Big 12 defensive backs haven’t been destined for glorious professional careers.
The NFL Draft begins Thursday evening, and by the time the third day concludes with Rounds 4-7 on Saturday, both Green and Motley hope they’ve heard their names called. If not, they should each get a chance with a team as undrafted free agents.
Still, that’s only the beginning of the climb to make it in the NFL as a defensive back coming out of the Big 12.
