McCain, pitchers fuel Cowboys to doubleheader sweep

Garrett McCain lay in the dirt around home plate, pain streaking through his left leg.

One pitch later, he was standing at third base.

The triple was only the start of a big day for McCain, who paced the Oklahoma State baseball team to a doubleheader sweep and series victory Sunday with wins of 6-3 and 8-3 against South Dakota State.

In the first inning of the first game, McCain fouled a pitch into his left shin barely below his knee and above his shin guard, collapsing in the batter’s box. As OSU coach Josh Holliday rushed toward him from the dugout, McCain stood and jogged off, seemingly fine.
