Kelvin Sampson was a champion for Eddie Sutton’s induction to the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.
In each of Sutton’s six previous nominations for the Hall of Fame, Sampson has vouched for the former Oklahoma State men’s basketball coach.
Although they coached rival teams with Sampson’s Oklahoma Sooners and Sutton’s Cowboys, they’ve always had mutual respect for one another.
After Sampson heard that Sutton would be inducted into the Hall of Fame, he received a text message from Sean Sutton, who was an assistant coach under his legendary father while Sampson was at OU.
