Jones nearly ties Cowgirls' rebound record in season-opener victory

Going into her senior season on the Oklahoma State women’s basketball team, LaTashia Jones viewed rebounding as a priority.

In OSU’s season opener against Arkansas State, Jones was explosive in the rebounding department, one away from tying the Cowgirls’ single-game record in a 62-60 victory on Friday at Gallagher-Iba Arena.

Last season featured 6-foot-4 Mandy Coleman as OSU’s star power forward. After Coleman graduated, Jones was ushered in as her replacement.

Jones stands at 6’2”, which is small compared to other players at the power forward position. Her speed and strength outweighed her height disadvantage.

In the first minutes of the game, Jones quickly took control of the court with five rebounds in five minutes.
