Harris, fellow freshmen don’t need to be top scorers yet to impact Cowboys

Chris Harris Jr.’s work day continues after the buzzer sounds at the end of a game.

When the fans have left Gallagher-Iba Arena, he stands on Eddie Sutton Court and puts up extra shots. To Harris, a freshman guard on the Oklahoma State men’s basketball team, free time means more time in the gym.

“If I find any time throughout the day, I’m in here,” Harris said.

Harris, who played at South Garland High School in Texas, recognizes that he can’t automatically be a scoring machine at OSU. As he practices his form and launches the ball toward the hoop, he and fellow freshman Avery Anderson III repeat reassuring words to themselves.
