Elliott shuts down Harvard in pitchers' duel

The Cowboys carry a big-bat reputation.

They dig the long ball. And they’re good at it too, ranking sixth nationally in home runs after swatting the most – 84 – by an Oklahoma State club since 2008.

Sometimes, however, they appreciate the little things. Like Friday night at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark, where OSU opened NCAA regional play with a 2-0 win over Harvard with small ball; small ball and premium pitching, which is no small thing, yet necessary when the bats aren’t booming.

The Cowboys scored on a groundout and a wild pitch, while Jensen Elliott and Peyton Battenfield combined on the shutout, allowing but four hits between them.
