Konner Doucet doesn’t know if he would have won the match if it had been a year earlier.
Twice last season, Doucet, OSU’s heavyweight, faced Northern Iowa’s Tyrell Gordon. The first came in a dual in Stillwater, with Gordon winning by a point. Then at the NCAA Championships, Gordon again came out with a win in tiebreakers.
They met for a third time again on Friday night in Gallagher-Iba Arena, and Doucet didn’t want that to happen again, especially as a redshirt junior and veteran on the team.
“You can't be losing every close match and having guys look up to you,” he said.
