Could one of Iba’s favorite sons have wound up coaching Kansas instead of his Oklahoma State Cowboys? An old athletic director at Kansas says it was definitely under consideration.
“I knew Eddie (Sutton) from back in our playing days. I played for KU about the same time he played at Oklahoma State,” (former KU athletic director Monte Johnson) told me by phone from his Lawrence home. “I kept track of him over the years and had a lot of respect for him.
